Segovia - The Ramirez Years is a tribute to the profound legacy of Andres Segovia
and The House of Ramirez. In 1912, a youthful Segovia was given a guitar by Manuel
Ramirez, thus beginning an illustrious partnership between the most famous guitarist
and guitar maker in the world. Legendary British classical guitarist John Mills presents
a double CD recording in which he performs a selection of celebrated works written for
and transcribed by Andres Segovia. The album includes music by Tansman, Torroba,
Ponce and Haug To promote an authenticity of tone, this album has been recorded on a
664mm Cedar top - 'Tradicional' Ramirez 1A concert guitar. Presented with an extended
booklet containing rare interviews with Alexandre Tansman’s daughter Mireille and Cecilia
Rodrigo, this album captures the timeless magic and beauty of the Segovian - repertoire
and Ramirez guitars.

John Mills, one of Britain's most eminent guitarists, explores the secrets of guitar technique

John Mills studied with Andres Segovia, John Williams and Julian Bream. In his remarkable
career spanning some 45 years he has given over 3000 concerts around the world. He is
also regarded as a leading exponent in the Segovia repertoire of the early to mid 20th Century.
Filmed in John’s home town of Westbury, Wiltshire, there are many examples of technical and
stylistic analysis from 1860 onwards. The film includes several complete performances of pieces
by Tansman and Torroba along with extracts by Albeniz, Ponce, Llobet and Granados. This unique
documentary offers a rare insight into John's vast knowledge, skills and talent, creating an invaluable resource for both studentsand professionals alike.
